AMERICAN NINETEENTH CENTURY HISTORY welcomes research submissions on all
areas of U.S. social, political, economic, cultural, diplomatic, and
intellectual history between 1789 and 1917. The journal, which is beginning
its fifth volume, is now published by Taylor and Francis. Issue 5.1 (Spring
2004) includes John Ashworth, "William W. Freehling and the Politics of the
Old South" (with response by William W. Freehling); Martin L. Meenagh,
"Archbishop John Hughes and the New York Schools Controversy of 1840-43";
