The Directory Server contains contact information normally
found only in the annual print edition of the Miami University
Directory and makes it available electronically. Authoritative data
from the Office of the Registrar and the Personnel Offices is
automatically updated in the Directory Server every 24 hours.
Data supplied by the Registrar and Personnel Offices can only be
changed by those offices; individuals wishing to update their
official information must visit the appropriate office to do so,
as they would normally. The data supplied by these offices includes:
Field Name [classification affected; notes]
Full name [all; legal name]
Spouse [staff and faculty; only if included in the print
Directory]
Classification as student, staff and/or faculty [all]
University title [staff and faculty]
University title two [staff and faculty; multiple appointments]
University division [staff and faculty]
Office address [staff and faculty]
Office telephone number [staff and faculty]
Home address [all; only if included in the print Directory]
Home telephone number [all; only if included in the print
Directory]
College affiliation [students]
Class [students]
School address [students; only if included in the print
Directory]
School telephone number [students; only if included in the
print Directory]
As an enhancement to the information found in the print
Directory, electronic mail address information is included from the
University's DEC OpenVMS, IBM VM/CMS, Microsoft Mail and Novell-
based Pegasus Mail systems, and an optional "preferred e-mail address"
can be specified by anyone whose entry appears in the Directory
Server. (Instructions for specifying a "preferred e-mail address"
are included later in this document.) All individuals can make
additional information about themselves available through the
Directory Server by completing the optional data fields provided,
which include the following:
Preferred telephone number
Voice Mail telephone number [a number at which you can
receive Voice Mail messages]
Telefacsimile telephone number [a number at which you can
receive faxes]
Pager telephone number [a number at which you can be paged]
Mobile telephone number [a cellular or other mobile number
at which you can be reached]
Preferred address for paper mail [if different from your
office location]
Office hours [when you can be reached in your office]
Miscellaneous text
Current projects [projects with which you wish to be
identified]
Other information
Birthday [your birthday]
High schools attended [for possible identification purposes]
Other colleges attended [for possible identification purpoes]
