We conduct monthly fire drills in all the residence halls. Drills are
also conducted in residence halls during the summer when
conferences and sports camps occupy the dorm.
Our student fire safety organization schedules and conducts the
drills. Drill report forms are filed for each drill. My office, residence
life and the housing office all receive copies of the drill report
forms. Forms document date and time of drill, device used to initiate
drill, total time of building evacuation and number of building
occupants evacuating. Students conducting the drill also walk all
floors and check all fire safety devices (extinguishers, exit signs,
conditions of detectors and audible units. If a problem is
documented it is immediately relayed to the housing office for
immediate correction. If
I evaluate all report forms and if problems are noted such as
excessive exit times steps are taken to identify what might of
caused the excessive time and what corrective measures can be
taken to correct the problem.
