This morning at 12:45 a.m., crews from the Chapel Hill Fire Department
responded to Morrison Dorm for an automatic fire alarm. Morrison Dorm is a
10-story dormitory housing approximately 1,000 students. Upon arrival,
crews located a working fire in a student lounge. Fire is characterized as
suspicious. Fire started in a sofa and was contained to the room of origin.
Concerning to the fire department was the "incomplete evacuation" by the
students. UNC officials are working on actions to correct this problem in
the future.
