At Yale University, we have an Office of the Fire Marshal which is responsible
for all inspection/testing/maintenance (among other things) of all fire
protection and life safety equipment. The office consists of a Fire Marshal,
(4) Fire Systems Technicians, (3) Fire Inspectors, and (3) Deputy Fire
Inspectors. We also have a crew of 3 from our alternate work program during the
summer to do PM on all of our single station smoke detectors. We also have an
on call fire alarm outside contractor and two on call sprinkler outside
contractors as backup or when a job is larger than we can handle in-house. The
Office of the Fire Marshal is part of the Facilities Department and the Fire
Marshal reports directly to the Associate VP for Finance and Administration.
