Hello, all. Rodney added me to the list today and asked me to introduce
myself. First the formalities: I teach in the Sociology of Education area
in the Graduate School of Education at the State University of New York at
Buffalo, where I also direct a Center for the Study of Technology in
Education, and coordinate a study group and unofficial Ph.D. emphasis in
Critical and Cultural Studies of Information Technology.

Quite a mouthful. Basically, I try to address social/political/cultural
issues connected to technologies: whose interests do their design and use
reflect and how, how does their use sustain or challenge the status quo,
etc. For a taste of what I do, visit http://www.gse.buffalo.edu/fas/bromley/.

I've been interested for a couple of years now in the "Conflict Resolution
and the Internet" class, which seems like a valuable effort both to see what
the Internet might actually be good for, and meanwhile address substantive
questions about racial and ethnic conflict. My schedule hasn't allowed me
to take part so far, but I'm hoping either to make it a last-minute addition
for the upcoming spring semester, or to take part the following spring.

Best wishes to all.
