STUDENTS INTERESTED IN SENIOR CAPSTONE SUMMER '12:

Dr. Woodin has worked diligently to get the summer class officially on the books and approved as a capstone. I received this update from him yesterday so if you are interested in registering, please read:

"We expect it to pass through the Capstone process as well, but I am finishing that paperwork today. If all goes well, and we expect it to do so, this is how the course will manifest and occur.

It will be listed as EDP 458/558 and it will be for the whole Summer Session 1
It will occur within Summer Session 1 but will actually have three components within that time span
Didactic Portion: June 18-22 (workshop style--when the interventions and assessments are taught to students)
Rocket Program Portion: June 25-July 19 (working with students at Talawanda Middle School, M-Th, 8:00-11:45)
Portfolio Portion: July 20-27 (individual conferences and work to complete portfolio and paperwork for course)
Students will learn to use and criticize two evidence-based assessment systems (Star Reading and AIMSweb) and four evidence-based interventions in reading and math
Students will also learn how to collect and reflect upon data needed to adjust instruction as a teacher and to participate in and monitor Response to Intervention (RTI) efforts."
