Dear Students,

For two years or so at Miami, a group of students in our division, mostly Teacher Education majors, organized a student group called No Child Left Behind Reparation Group. They declared their goal to be the investigation and discussion of the No Child Left Behind law, without positioning themselves as "pro" or "con", and through such investigations to create greater awareness and to develop and propose alternatives or amendments to the bill that would improve or change it. They met every 2-4 weeks to read materials on NCLB and discuss it, and they hosted several events. One was a demonstration at the Miami seal in which they placed a school desk with a sign about testing and had members of the group handing out literature about NCLB. Another event was a debate about NCLB held in the McGuffey auditorium with a panel of faculty, teachers from the community and Miami students.
The organization fell dormant last year.
As I am the organization faculty advisor, I receive information from the office of student organizations and there is even a small budget.
Since it has been inactive for a year, I need to do one of two things - investigate if any students are interested in re-creating and re-invigorating this group; or close out the organization.

If anyone is interested in this group, please let me know. I will add one further clarification point. This group was created, defined and run by the students. I played a very small role. It was started because they were interested in it. So its purpose and role would be largely up to you. It is certainly something interesting to consider.
