TOUR AT WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE
WRIGHT LABORATORY AND ARMSTRONG LABORATORY
22 OCTOBER 1996, 2:30PM, NO COST

Join us for an outstanding tour in which we will see first
hand a small sampling of the vast amount of technical research
and development happening at WPAFB. First we will visit the
Wright Lab Propulsion Directorate to see the Turbine and
Commpressor Research Facilities. Then we will venture to
Armstrong Lab, where we will see the Computerized
Anthropometric Research and Design Lab and the Synthesized
Immersion Research Environment. This tour has been specially
arranged for SWE. Members, non-members, and students are
welcome, as long as all are U.S. citizens or have green
cards. Casual dress and comfortable shoes are suggested.
RSVP to Mary Kinsella by 18 Oct: [log in to unmask],
937-255-5669 (w), or 937-439-4048 (h). [Note Dayton's new
area code.]

AGENDA

2:30 Meet at Visitor Center, Introduction and Check-in*
3:00 Tour at Wright Lab
4:00 Tour at Armstrong Lab
5:00 Meeting/Discussion
6:00 Adjourn, Return to Visitor Center

*Bus or van transportation to tour and meeting locations will
be arranged. All tour participants who do not have base access
must meet at the Visitor Center at 2:30 for proper check-in
and transport.

DIRECTIONS

I-75 to Dayton
Exit at SR 35 East
Exit Woodman Ave and turn left (North)
Exit to Springfield Street (near Air Force Museum) and turn
  right (East)
Go past the Air Force Museum entrance
Take the next right, entering WPAFB Area B at Gate 1B
BEFORE THE GATE, turn left into Visitor Parking
Meet inside Visitor Center, Building 58.

The only change to the WPAFB tour is that Armstrong Lab had to
cancel out (couldn't get approval for the tour). So I am
substituting the Materials Directorate within Wright Lab.
Therefore we will be touring 2 areas of WL: propulsion and
materials. Hopefully we'll see a total of 4 facilities.
Please get the word out on this, especially to students.
