** A few announcements that may impact your
scheduling for the Summer, Fall and Spring semesters.
**1. EDP 430 (for early childhood majors) AND EDP
458 (methods for moderate/intensive and early childhood
majors) will be added to the Fall schedule. Please check
Bannerweb for details. ** EDP 430 is only offered in the Fall
semester, so if you are a Junior or Senior - be sure to take it now.
**2. EDT 482 (needed by those seeking Gifted Licensure )
is only offered in the Fall semester. If you are a
Junior or Senior in the Gifted Licensure Program - be sure to register
for this course for next Fall.
**3. All Majors, except those in the Early Childhood Licensure program,
who are planning to take Middle Childhood or Adolescent Content
Pedagogy Classes in either the Fall or Spring semesters of next school
year (EDT 346, 429, 436, 439, 441, 442, 427, 431, or 433)
Please REPLY to this email with your name and the classes you are
planning to take for important scheduling information.
** 4. All Early Childhood Majors.
Please be aware that when you enroll in the Early Childhood Literacy
Block and when you enroll in the Early Childhood Content Block that
there is a full two week field component required even if you are only
enrolled in a portion of the block. This is one reason that it is
important to take your courses in sequence and as recommended by the
program brochure.
An Advising Alert to Everyone. I have had a number of students asking
me to make adjustments to their program because they have not completed
the thematic sequence and they are about to graduate or are under the
impression that they are about to graduate. They are desperate. Please
be aware that I have between little and no lattitude regarding
adjusting the courses required for the thematic sequence (no
independent studies count and substitutions are rarely approved by the
Liberal Education Council). Therefore, please don't wait to complete
your thematic sequence but do so promptly and as it is written in the
Miami University Bulletin. Try to plan your courses a year ahead to be
sure you don't get caught in a squeeze.
If you are interested in the capstone EDP 497 (Literacy
Training/Phonics) for the summer or fall term you will not be able to
register on Bannerweb. However, you can sign up for these courses in
201 McGuffey. The maximum enrollment is 12.
Please note #3 above if you wish your life to be easier. For everyone,
if in doubt about your schedule, make an appointment to visit with our
advising guru, Liz Bailey, in 201 McGuffey.
