Hey!

How's it going?  My name is Molli Anderson, and I am a Junior here at Miami University. I'm contacting your group, Best Buddies, because I'm organizing a volunteer trip to Guatemala this spring break, and I think that it would be a really nice opportunity for some of your members to get involved, since I know that your group really cares about making a difference on campus, international experience, the developing world, and student leadership. It's going to be an amazing learning experience, and I am personally very excited about going and putting this together.

In a nutshell, the trip is going to be a combination of meaningful community and agricultural volunteer work, relaxation, and some pretty exotic excursions.  The group will be working very closely with a community-based non-profit organization to ensure that the volunteer work we do will actually have a serious positive impact.  And it's going to be fun.  We'll be in a charming Guatemalan city that has a pretty sweet nightlife, and we're even going to hike an active volcano!

This won't be the typical vacation that most of the students here at Miami have. Unlike being a traditional tourist, each person will actually form relationships with the local community, gain incredible intercultural experience, learn more about themselves, and make a real difference.  The trip may seem a bit pricey at first glance, but I think that it's definitely a good investment.

I will be holding an information session at 7 PM on Tuesday February 3 as well as Tuesday February 10 in Culler 216, where I'll review the details of the trip and answer any of the questions that students might have.  Also, I can be reached at [log in to unmask] if anybody has any immediate questions or wants additional information before the meeting.

It would be incredibly helpful if you could email the above information to the members of Best Buddies. If I am asking for too much, I apologize. I would really appreciate anything you can do to inform the students in your organization since I think that this trip overlaps with a lot of the goals that your group is trying to promote. Thanks very much, and I hope to hear back from you soon!

Best,
Molli Anderson
