Call for nominations for the 2009 Miami University
Grandparents of the Year!!
The Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami
University and the Knolls of Oxford announce the 8th annual Miami University
Grandparents of the Year Awards. Four Grandparents of the Year awards will be
presented: a grandmother, a grandfather, a couple, and an honorary non-family
grandparent or couple. There is also an “In Memoriam” category for
students who wish to write about a grandparent(s) who has passed away. In this
category, a winner will not be selected, but all nominees will be specially
recognized during the awards ceremony. Any Miami University student is
eligible to nominate.
This
year we are honored to have Mrs. Valerie Hodge serve as our Honorary
Chairperson of the event. President and Mrs. Hodge will attend the
recognition and presentation ceremony which will be held at 5:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, April 8 in the Heritage Room of the Shriver Center, with a reception
to follow. All nominees will be notified by letter of their
nomination and/or selection and will be invited to attend. Grandparents
need not be present in order to be selected. At the ceremony, nominees or their
representatives will receive a special pin and certificate. The selected
Grandparents of the Year will receive a pin and framed award, and will be
featured in media and on a campus display.
Deadline for
submission of nomination forms is 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2009.
