Subject: Volunteer needed
Hi Molly,
I received your email address from a student, Lindsay
Brinegar. She has worked with my daughter at Summer Camp and Capurnum
Ministries in Middletown.
We are needing a volunteer to work with our daughter one
day a week through the Butler County MRDD program she attends.
Addie, our daughter, is 25 and has autism, on the more sever end of the
spectrum. She attends the Middletown Enrichment Center on University in
Middletown. We are looking for a volunteer to meet her and her staff at
the Liberty Center, off route 4 near Hamilton. This would be a weekly
volunteer opportunity and one that would require consistency....due to Addie's
need for structure and consistency. We are attempting to phase Addie into
the Music Sensory Room in that building. It would be a unique opportunity
for a student because the Sensory room is a one of a kind room in our
nation. It was created by a Music Sensory Therapist from
California. It is an awesome room! We are having a hard
time getting Addie into the building and then into the room. We have ask
the Liberty Center for a down time room that Addie could transition into and
then go from there to the Sensory Room once she was comfortable. Addie
does wonderful with peer volunteers....all of my at home staff are college age
and Addie responds to them like girlfriends.:) It has worked
wonderfully...that is why I come looking for a college student. We
are wanting the volunteer to be the reason Addie heads into the
building.....the lure.....a friend to experience the room with.:) I would
be glad to pay for their gas to and from the Liberty Center.
Below is my contact information if you find someone interested in
the opportunity.:)
Thank you for your time.:)
