This event will teach you how to use visual supports with children and youth to help them recognize feelings, decrease frustration and assist with behaviors.
Visual supports include photos, drawings, objects, gestures, and print and environmental cues. The training will show how these techniques can decrease anxiety in children and assist them in communicating and aid with long-term learning. The presenters are Teri Messerschmidt, MA, CC/SLP & Melissa Foti-Hoff, PsyD from the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
The event will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Middletown and is open to parents & caregivers, as well as child care providers & professionals. The event is put on by the Butler County Child Care Coalition and is sponsored by the Family & Children First Council's Strong Families, Safe Communities Grant.
