I seem to recall that at some point this list was restricted to Europe
and North America (and since books about Amerindians in the boundaries
of the US are being admitted, but a superb book that would be accessible
to students and would raise many issues regarding imperial expansion,
cultural difference, power relations, etc. would be DRINKING HOMICIDE
AND REBELLION IN COLONIAL MEXICAN VILLAGES.  Chuck Ambler
