In regards to the link between the temperance/prohibition
movement and the tobacco temperance/prohibition movement,
the WCTU most certainly did oppose both alcohol and tobacco
consumption.  For a solid connection, take a look at
Sharon Cook's book on the WCTU in Ontario, Canada.
