Subject: Call for Speakers
X-Listserver-Version: 6.0 -- UNIX ListServer by Anastasios Kotsikonas
X-Comment: Virginia History Discussion Group

The Valentine Museum is preparing the programmes for its Fall 1996
Controversy/History series of panel discussions. Controversy/History looks
at contemporary issues through a historical lens.

We seek potential speakers for two programs.

In September, the program "Who Gets Good Schools?" will look at the present
and past of public education in Richmond, Virginia and the South, with a
focus on the history of funding of schools.

In October, "Vice Under Fire" will explore the current controversies over
tobacco's legal status and the history of temperance and other struggles
over government involvement in drugs.

If you or someone you know might be interested in speaking at one of these
public programs, please contact me.
