I shall be glad to join Ron Roizen and others in a "virtual seminar" on Laura
Schmidt's new paper in the JOURNAL OF ALCOHOL STUDIES 56 (1995): 110-21, "'A
Battle Not Man's But God's': Origin of the American Temperance Crusade in the
Struggle for Religious Authority." By the way, I must admit that I had stopped
looking at the JOURNAL OF ALCOHOL STUDIES. It had been my impression that it
had lost interest in historical research or indeed much anything other than
medical-related research.
