The New Netherland project's 19th Rensselaerswijck Seminar will focus on a
topic of some interest to some members of this listserve.  "the the staffs
of life:  Bread and Beer."  There will be papers on the brewing process in
medieval Europe, Beer and Drinkers in 17th century Dutch art, Brewing in
New Netherland and Dutch Republic, Farming for bread and beer; and bread in
Dutch culture of the old and new World.  The seminar will be held on
Saturday, September 21, 1996 at the Cultural Education Center on the emprie
