I should make it clear that I sent the link to the NY Times review; I was
using my wife's computer, and so Netscape listed her email address. By the
way, I too have reviewed Andrew Barr's new book. It was a brief review:
Choice allots reviewers only 190 words. With less eloquence and from a
much more obscure pulpit, I said pretty much what Patty Limerick said in
the prestigious Sunday edition of the New York Times. I should admit to
Andrew Barr, an ATHG subscriber, that I would put up with another flairup
of my arthritic left knee for a mixed review in a major newspaper. Most of
us who write on drink or temperance are lucky for our books to sell 500
copies. At least that is what happened with my last book!

PS: The NY Times post provides a link to the first chapter in Barr's book
Drink.
