I am interested in compiling a bibliography of scholarly works that examine
the history of alcohol from a cross-disciplinary perspective. What books
and articles, for example, incorporate theories from sociology or
anthropology?

I know of remarkable little done on British history. Obviously, Joseph
Gusfield's Symbolic Crusade and Bill Rorabaugh's The Alcoholic Republic are
two good examples from American history. Who wants to expand the list?
