For those of you interested in the temperance movement in England
there is now a new edition of Harrison's work Drink and the
Victorians. It is reviewed in this weeks Times Higher Education
Supplement - the review is a little long to type out but if demand is
high I will endeavour to do so.

Dorothy Thompson (the reviewer) regards it as "a real second edition"
but goes on to say it is difficult to compare the two as it is
completely reogranised.

I note there is now an index entry for women!!! but it only refers to
information in the previous edition.

For those interested it is stlg30 sterling and published by Keele
University Press.
