Glenda Elizabeth Gilmore, Gender & Jin Crow: Women and the Politics
of White Supremecy in North Carolina, 1896-1920 (U. of North Carolina
Press 1996), includes some interesting paragraphs on temperance
organizations and prohibition.  I wish that I read the paragraphs on
black women and the Good Templars before my own book Temperance &
Racism was published last year.
