Dear John: I am pleased to announce the following, which I believe would
be of major interest to ATHG members.

1. We have established here in Maui a core center which contains a
collection of more than 23,000 historical materiials, including articles,
correspondence, archival finds, audio-cassette tapes, video tapes,
pictures, binders and books.
2. We hope and soon expect to have these placed, in appropriate segments,
both here at the Maui center, at The Wilson House (birthplace of Bill
Wilson), at an International Outreach Center in Florida, and at two or
three other places, including, we hope, a major university (academic,
medical, religious).
3. These represent the results of my ten years of research and fourteen
published works on the history of early A.A.'s spiritual roots and
successes. They include materials on things preceding A.A. and involving
Temperance, Prohibition, the Anti-Saloon League, and the like. They
include works by the great spiritual leaders of the 1800's such as
Bushnell, Moody, Drummond, Mott, Speer, Booth, Wright, and others whose
ideas became incorporated in Twelve Step programs at a later point. They,
of course, include the previously unreported literature of early A.A.,
Anne Smith's Journal, Dr. Bob's Library, writings of Rev. Sam Shoemaker,
and the Oxford Group.
4. The purpose is to make these materials freely accessible, free of
charge, able to be copied, and utilized on the internet, radio, TV, film,
and otherwise.
