I was confused by the message about black jack on the ATHG listserv and sent a
message "remove" which apparently went to all the subscribers instead of to
the black jack folk. Sorry! By the way, I can report that at the AHA a few of
us met for lunch. I left New York City prior to the session on women and the
American liquor traffic. My own comparative prohibition session attracted a
dozen or so listeners. I much enjoyed the papers on British colonial West
Africa and on the early Soviet Union. Finally, I was glad to see old friends
in the ATHG and meet new friends in the area of alcohol and temperance history
whom previously I had known only by name. A happy new year to all of you!
