Dear Pat,
Your message about paying one's dues prompted me to check my tax records for
last year. I could not find a record of my having paid my ATHG dues.
Neither can I find a record that I have sent a check this year. There can be
only one reason for this: I did NOT RECEIVE A REMINDER. I belong to so many
professional organizations that I have to confess that I am completely
hopeless about paying dues unless I am sent a reminder slip/invoice in the
mail. We did that when the purse-strings were here in Gainesville, but
somehow the practice has lapsed. We need to reinstitute this in order to
remain solvent. In these days when one's permanent database for addresses
(on e.g. Microsoft Access, which I use) can print the whole thing out as
mailing labels at the push of a button, it is a lot easier than when I did
it, having to type each envelope by hand. So let's remind everyone that
SHAR is not produced through some charitable endowment. Invoices please, Ron!
I am sure that my hopelessness is not unique!
Best wishes,
Geoffrey

P.S. I will not receive another paycheck for three months (the University of
Florida does not pay us in the summer), so this is NOT the optimal time for
the regular mailing of invoices.
