You've just received an announcement of a major conference, the Fifth
International Conference on the History of Drugs and Alcohol: The Pathways
to Prohibition, to be held June 26-28th, 2009, at the University of
Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. I thought list members would also
appreciate a reminder of another large international conference, on drugs
and cultures, this one in Paris, December 11-13:

A colleague at UNF, Aaron Sheehan-Dean, found a family photograph of Carrie
Nation in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was probably taken by his great aunt, who
attended school there. I attach it as .jpg file. It is low res but Aaron
