Does anyone know of sources for figures on alcohol consumption in various
continental European countries (e.g. France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Russia)
over the course of the nineteenth century? I'd like to compare U.S.
consumption trends to European. I found American figures in Lender and
Martin, _Drinking in America_, and Rorabaugh, _Alcoholic Republic_. British
figures are in Harrison, _Drink and the Victorians_. Some Russian figures are
in Christian, _Living Water_. But what about the others?

By way of introduction: I'm a historian of science writing a book on the
history of alcohol research in the U.S. from 1850 to 1940.
