Hey all,

I've found myself fooling around with academia.edu recently -- it's
basically an academic social network, functionally something like a
cross between a Myspace and a Twitter (more about sharing your profile
info than apps; uses the one-way connection model that Twitter uses).
It is an interesting experiment, one that I think isn't completely
successful or usable yet, but in theory it seems a nice idea. I have
run into old colleagues I hadn't talked to in a while, as well as a
few I'd like to court as potential collaborators.

I thought I'd drop a brief note and recommend that those interested
take a look. Right now, there are only a handful of AIMS folks on
there, and it might be nice if we, perhaps the crowd at Miami most
interested in the educational and professional implications of social
media, have a presence here. Just an idea!

You can access Miami's network at muohio.academia.edu...
