Have you ever wanted to watch a group of 40 people design a game in less than 48 hours? Curios about rapid game making? Opinionated about what makes a good game? Enjoying setting up food? Like judging or critiquing games? Going to be on campus over the weekend anyway?

Even if none of the above applies to you, we could REALLY use your help with the Global Game Jam (http://aims.muohio.edu/gamejam). We need volunteers to facilitate this event. If you can spare a couple of hours, it would be greatly appreciated.

Volunteering can mean as little as sitting in Benton 009 grading papers and answering any basic questions people may have (e.g. when is lunch? is there a vending machine near hear?). Volunteering can also mean walking around, giving your thoughts on participant progress and participating in the process. It’s really up to you.

Right now, we have only 1 volunteer Arianne Hartsell-Gundy. This year’s event is twice as large as last year, so we’ll need people for everything from receiving food to on-call emergency service overnight (you’re unlikely to get a call). Anything and everything is appreciated. Last year I spent about nearly 30 hours on site - splitting that among some AIMS faculty would be really, really, great.

Please consider volunteering. This is a great event that typically gets press for our programs. We have a combination of high school students, college students and working professionals in games this year. We have a much higher proportion of Miami participants this year, so that should make volunteer jobs even simpler.

Here’s the essential information:

January: 28th-30th:
Shifts: 2-3 hours each from (Friday 4-10pm, Saturday 8:00 am – 10pm, Sunday 8:00 am-3:00 pm and emergency phone call)
Where: Benton basement - Mainly 009 and the computer labs.
Website: http://aims.muohio.edu/gamejam

Please pass this information on to anyone you think might be interested. Volunteers may be reimbursed in food too! In general, last year’s volunteers are this year’s participants. Student volunteers welcome too!
