All the talk about research paper format has caused me think about my student
experiences with research papers. I wrote one in Freshman English (I don't
recall doing one in high school). After that---though I earned a bachelors,
masters, and doctorate, and wrote a great many papers---I never wrote another
research paper till my doctoral dissertation. Of course this happened quite a
few years ago; things may be different today. I was in the humanities, by the
way, not in engineering or business.
Was/Is my experience atypical? I'd be interested in hearing from others on
the list.
