Craig,

It's a tough choice between the two of you, and it sounds like a very promising workshop. Unfortunately, Houston is a bit far. ATEG clearly has some very fine resource people to tap!

Herb,
Thanks so much for the kind and thoughtful praise. I also want to thank Rosemary and Warren for saying such kind things about me. (Warren, in your case, it is especially gratifying to know former students still value what happened and are finding ways to use it in the classroom.)
Robert and I have had a lively and interesting email talk, and he has made the thoughtful decision to invite Martha down. I now have a friend in Houston. Meanwhile, I think he is now aware that she is a fine choice among other strong possibilities. It is very gratifying to be part of the conversation.

It hasn't been mentioned, but Craig also has an excellent intro grammar
text for college students, his Meaning-Centered Grammar, published by
Equinox (2005). Craig makes excellent use of functional grammar to
provide clear and teachable treatments of English grammar that have
	particular relevance to composition.
