Hi
A colleague recently related to me that he has seen a couple of
instances of students spelling 'would' as 'wor.' Our students tend to
be aural and oral, but it still seems a bit odd. Any insights?
Janet

On Language Log, Geoffrey Pullum posted a good "overview" piece about
passive constructions recently. I'm linking it below (I realize a number
of you probably have already seen it, but I figure linking it is like
chicken soup -- couldn't hurt). I think it's more suited as background
material for teachers and for college students than as something to use
in K12, but I may be underestimating upper-level high-school students.
