On Language Log, Geoffrey Pullum posted a good "overview" piece about passive constructions recently. I'm linking it below (I realize a number of you probably have already seen it, but I figure linking it is like chicken soup -- couldn't hurt). I think it's more suited as background material for teachers and for college students than as something to use in K12, but I may be underestimating upper-level high-school students.  --- Bill Spruiell
