I'm so sorry to have missed this conference but am definitely aiming
for Seattle next year.  I look forward to seeing the proceedings on
the ATEG website (and thanks to those who go to all the trouble of
providing that info.).
 
btw, I did give a presentation on how to effectively teach grammar in
a basic writing class at a Canadian conference in Newfoundland this
spring, so I am disseminating our philosophy Ed.
 
I do have one question.  I am under the impression that Martha Kolln
somewhere critiqued the empirical studies summarized by Hartwell.
Can anyone give me a reference?
