Bruce,
    I don't get to my e-mail often since I have to come in to campus,
but for the last week I have been feeling guilty about my last post.
Your reply to Jane and to me was really very thoughtful and supportive.
What set me off was the suggestion that the colon was "better," and I
immediately took this as criticism of the student's writing.
     I probably should get off this list. I approach it with a
reproachful attitude, perhaps because I am the one who started the group
and I often feel like the father of an independent, but misbehaving
child. Your comments, however, were right on target, and again I
apologize.
