I have been reading with interest the discussion on 'a final' and 'the
final' arrows.  I should just like to include one explanation and that is
the true menaning of the indefinite article, namely "ONE".  The sentence
'He shot a final arrow' means then that he shot just one.  Being Robin
Hood and wounded, he subsequently died and could not shoot any more.
