Are you referring to this example as miscreated adjective or misused word?
"He was to the store"
There's a local dialect that uses "to" instead of "at" or where there's no
preposition in Standard.
"Where were you last night? I was to the store."
"I called to the ferry office." (This last example is in a paper I just
corrected)
I hear and read it all the time in my Downeast students speech and writing.
