Into its wide embrace the ATEG conference draws papers, workshops, and
panels on a rich
variety of topics related to the teaching of grammar from K-12 through
graduate school.
These topics include syntax, stylistic grammar, rhetorical grammar,
applied linguistics, ESL,
sentence combining, language acquisition, reading and grammar,
literature and grammar, and
grammar in the teaching of writing.
Proposals for individual papers and for panel presentations should be

The Minicourse:
Grammar in the Writing Classroom
July 12-13, 2000
The purpose of this course is to explore with language arts teachers the
ways in which grammar
knowledge can enhance their students' understanding and proficiency in
writing and reading.
Topics will include current linguistic practice in describing the
structure of English; core principles
for improving organization and coherence; techniques for analysis and
revision; rhetorical
grammar, style; and classroom strategies.

Option 1 (incl. 18 clock-hours CE ): $115.00 (The minicourse plus the

Option 2 (minicourse only) $45.00 ( course registration, lunches on
Wednesday and Thursday,)
