Thank you Karl, Joanna, and Cornelia,

You are certainly probably right, but could I just ask, since this is
part of a project I am working on, and the sentence in question is part
of a passage where there is a foregrounding of pronominal play, so I
want to make sure I understand this fully: If the "who" functions, as
you all say, as subject complement, then wouldn't the sentence really be
saying "Return without delay to become you truly are the person"?

In the sentence, "Return without delay to become whom you truly are,"
couldn't the "whom" be seen as the object of the infinitive and what
follows as a relative clause with an elided pronoun? [Return without
delay to become him (who) you truly are.] Or is this just off?

Thanks for any further consideration.

Kent
