Take a look at *The Stewart English Program (Book 1: Principles Plus...;
Book 2: Grammar Plus)* Educators Publishing Service, Cambridge MA. It may
be useful for the HS-early college level, and its focus is on phrases
throughout at least book 2 . I'd be interested if anyone has seen these
books, what your evaluation is of them. I teach at a fairly grammar based
school and we have yet to find an ideal grammar text. We use *Correct
Writing* (9-11) and *Rules of the Game* (7-8) mostly for the exercises and
end up providing the explanations ourselves. I find Richard Gula's handbood
*Precision* (University Press of America) wonderful. Cheers, Tyler
