I woke up this a.m. realizing that one of my last messages
has a big non-linguist's mistake. There is of course no
rank-ordering in a constituency analysis. Maybe it was
the image of sentence diagramming, or maybe the contrast
between 'flat' and 'heirarchical' -- in any case, every
lintuist on this list knows it's wrong & I REALLY goofed.
