Perhaps this is not the right list to ask this on, but I am curious as to
the reaction/response from those here on the topic of ebonics.  This is
the name for nonstandard English that was recently approved as a valid
second language to be taught and studied in California, I believe.  If my
info is off, please correct me.  But what do those on this list think of
ebonics?  christine gray
