hi all. It will be really nice to see you all at the NCTE.


I've organized a panel entitled "Linguistic Diversity, Minority
Dialects and Teaching Standard English in the Urban Writing Classroom."
 I'll be presenting on Codeswitching as fulcrum to teach Standard
English along with Julie Sweetland (who is John Rickford's graduate
student) and Angela Brill, a high school teacher in Cincinnati. Julie
will be talking abouut "Adapting the writing process for the
linguistically diverse classroom." and Angela will speak on "Closing
the gap."

Our session is K.22. Saturday, November 20, 4:15 - 5:30 PM.
