All,

I received the below e-mail invitation and just received word that it is

Washington DC and not able to attend.

> The Greater Ohio Policy Center and the Brookings Institution Metropolitan
> Policy Program cordially invite you to attend a program to discuss our
> action agenda, Restoring Prosperity: Transforming Ohio's Communities for
> the Next Economy, on February 22, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at
> the Statehouse Atrium in Columbus. The program will feature U.S. Senator
> Sherrod Brown, The Ohio State University President Gordon Gee, and Ohio
> Supreme Court Chief Justice Tom Moyer, among others.
>
> After more than two years of research and analysis, meetings throughout
> the state involving hundreds of stakeholders and a 1000-person summit in
> Fall 2008, we are excited to present a blueprint for moving Ohio forward.
> The report's agenda, which is meant to inform Ohioans as well as catalyze
> transformative changes in state policy, will facilitate Ohio's transition
> to our next economy - characterized as export-oriented, lower-carbon, and
> innovation-led. We know there are many fine new practices and programs
> already underway by our local and state partners that are aimed at moving
> Ohio into a new era of prosperity. This agenda is meant to complement
> these activities, in part because it recognizes that Ohio's metropolitan
> areas -fully encompassing urban, suburban and rural places -house the
> resources necessary to lead the state into the next economy and
> acknowledges the complementary public and private sector roles.
>
> The agenda maintains that the state and our communities should:
>
> build on and enhance our communities' many assets; that is, the four
> drivers of economic prosperity contained in Ohio's metros - innovation,
> human capital, infrastructure, and quality places
>
> catalyze governance reform to better align with the fiscal realities of
> today and the foreseeable future
>
> engage and leverage new federal opportunities in the form of grants and
> funds for our communities and align these opportunities with new state
> policies that reinforce local practices.
>
>
>
> With the release of this report, Ohio has an opportunity to pilot new
> programs and act as a national testing ground. Your community can be an
> integral part of Ohio's next economy by acting on the Restoring Prosperity
> agenda, so we invite you to join us on February 22 nd to learn more about
> this agenda and embark together on the next phase of reshaping Ohio's
> economic landscape.
>
> Please R.S.V.P. to Katherine Buckingham at Greater Ohio at
> [log in to unmask] We look forward to seeing you on the 22nd and
> collaborating with you and your organization to work towards healthier
> communities and a stronger, greater Ohio.
