COURSE DESCRIPTION:
On February 28, 2003, President Bush issued Homeland Security
Presidential Directive-5. HSPD-5 directed the Secretary of Homeland
Security to develop and administer a National Incident Management System
(NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all
government, private-sector, and non-governmental organizations to work
together during domestic incidents. This course introduces NIMS and
takes approximately two hours to complete. It explains the purpose,
principles, key components and benefits of NIMS. 

PARTICIPANT CRITERIA:
This course is open to all local elected officials, government
administrators, agency and departmental managers, and supervisory staff
within Butler County local governments. In order for a jurisdiction to
be NIMS's Compliant all elected officials are required to complete
this training. This course is sponsored by the Butler County Emergency
Management Agency who provides the course facilitator, the study guides
and all needed course materials. The course is a product of the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) which will issue certificates for
those who complete the course and pass the final exam.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1)  Course minimum is 15 students.  Course maximum is 30 students.
2)  Students will receive a course certificate if they attend all
course sessions and score at least 75% on the written course
examination.
3) There are no course fees.
4)  Registration is limited to the first 30 applicants.
5) Pre-registration is required
