COURSE TITLE:	Foreign Animal Disease Response:  Emergency Responder
Training  Course

DATES: 		September 15, 2006

LOCATION:  	 	Butler Tech Public Safety Education Complex

TIME: 			10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide training throughout the emergency
response community for an effective and rapid response in the event of a
foreign animal disease outbreak. It is vital that Emergency Responders
understand their supporting role in providing state and federal response
agencies assistance during such an event. The training will provide
current best practices and safety issues in the areas of animal
quarantine procedures, PPE, euthanasia and disposal of animals, and
cleaning and disinfection operations.  An interactive foot and mouth
disease outbreak scenario will be used to reinforce the course content. 
Comprehensive field notes that capture the essential best practices will
be provided.

PARTICIPANT CRITERIA:
Local responders who need to take this course:
	Law enforcement officers
	Firefighters
	Veterinarians
	Citizens Emergency Response Teams (CERT) or other volunteer
organizations
	Emergency Medical Services personnel
	Public health officials
	Extension agents
	Animal control officers
	Elected and Local officials
	Public works personnel
	Emergency Management personnel 
                Elected Officials


COURSE DELIVERY: 
Foreign Animal Disease Response is an agroterrorism preparedness course
for responders certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and
approved by the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service
(APHIS).  In Ohio, the course is sponsored by the Ohio Department of
Agriculture and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with
USDA-APHIS-Veterinary Services.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1)  Course minimum is 20 students.  Course maximum is 60 students.

2)  Students will receive a course certificate if they attend all
course sessions. 

3)  There are no course fees. Lunch will be provided. 

6)  Registration is limited to the first 60 applicants.
