Middle Tennessee State University seeks applications for

€ Director of PhD Program in Mathematics and Science Education and
€ Open Rank Faculty in Science Education, both beginning August 2011.

Director of Ph.D. Program in Mathematics and Science Education (MSE Ph.D.) ­
One Position. (107490).  Applications are invited for a tenure-track (with
tenure upon appointment possible) professor who will direct the new
interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in mathematics and science education.  Must
qualify for rank of professor.  Successful candidate will have a national
record of funded research in mathematics education or science education and
experience mentoring Ph.D. students.  Doctorate in mathematics, mathematics
education, a science discipline or science education field required.
Documented experience leading/directing program preferred.

Mathematics and Science Education Faculty (MSE Ph.D. Program) ­ One Position
(107080). 
Rank Open.  Tenure-track. Position in biology education, chemical education,
or science education requires commitment to teaching and service and a
robust background in research or a high-quality plan from which to develop a
strong research program.  Successful candidate will lead dissertations in
science education, write grants to support science education research, and
serve on dissertation committees for MSE Ph.D. candidates.  Doctorate in
biology education, chemistry education or science education or in
biology/chemistry with a focus in educational research. Two or more years
experience in teaching, research and service at a college/university
preferred. Evidence of successful grant-writing involving science education
research preferred.

Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), with 26,000 students, is located
30 miles southeast of Nashville. The University offers, through nine
colleges and thirty-six academic departments, baccalaureate instruction in
the liberal and fine arts, the sciences, education, business, mass
communication, and a variety of other fields. Graduate programs are offered
