I have not seen this issue on Vista but on XP occasinally the invisble 
failing update is a flash vulnerablitly update. If you use the flash 
removal tool from adobes website the machines pass then you can install 
the latest version from adobes site. Dont know why but I have seen it a 
bunch of times.
