We took the plunge yesterday. We decided that Windows 7 support would be worth it, even if we have to disable WSUS checks for a while.

We are also getting the "Windows Update Agent is not the correct version" error. We use Microsoft Servers as our update source.

On a positive note, our login times are noticeably faster (both before and after disabling the WSUS requirement).

I also opened a TAC case and this is the message I got:

" We have had a few reports of the NAC agent 4.7.1 not recognizing the

windows update agent

on 64 bit OS machines. CSCtd78468 : NAC Agent 4.7.1 fails to

posture WSUS on 64 bit OS.

We have other customers successfully using WSUS on 4.7.1 with 64

bit machines. We are

currently investigating what the cause of this failure in some

networks is."

We haven't performed the upgrade to 4.7.1 yet.

If anyone has updates on this issue, please keep us posted.

Thanks.

Are the WSUS checks failing when using your own Managed WSUS server? Has anyone tried using the Microsoft servers? We use the Microsoft servers in our WSUS requirement and have not seen this issue and we are running the latest, 4.7.1.

Agreed, we stopped using the Cisco checks a while ago. Seems like they break constantly.

I hope they get this fixed soon. I’m not a huge fan of the Cisco hotfix checks. We were going to upgrade to 4.7.1 on Monday when our student are on winter break but now I’m thinking we should wait until this is resolved. Thanks for posting this.

More from TAC on the issue:

Jeremy,

I have opened a sev1 bug on the issue. We have other customers running into

this as well. I will keep you updated on the progress.

Have you moved back to Cisco Rules and has that worked for the time being?

------------------------------------

I did make the changes in the last message and was able to get clients through.

Sorry,

I forgot to include the bug: CSCtd78468 : NAC Agnent 4.7.1 fails to poster WSUS on 64 bit OS.

From TAC:

Jeremy,

You can switch back to the Cisco checks and enable the pr_Win7_64_Hotfixes

and pr_Win_32_Hotfixes under Requirement Rules for windows 7 in the mean time.

We have an issue with WSUS updates on 64 bit Operating Systems at the moment

with the 4.7.1 client.

Importance: High

Is anyone else seeing this?

We have four (and counting) 64-bit Windows Vista clients (2 Home Premium and 2 Ultimate) failing with an error that we have never seen before. We have checked the system and there are no updates available for the update agent or any other critical updates available. We have our Windows Updates rule set to install critical updates by severity.

Thanks,
